ASI

The Association Scholarship Initiative (ASI) mission: To Provide Merit-Based Scholarships and Educational Enrichment Opportunities to the Families of Current and Veteran Members of an Air Force Special Warfare Unit.  The ASI is a merit-based award designed to recognize individuals who exemplify the values and principles of the Association, as well as those set forth by their sponsors. This scholarship aims to support and empower exceptional students in pursuing their educational goals and making a positive impact on society.

Amount: $5,000

Who is Eligible? Open to families of current and veteran unit members. Applicant must be a currently enrolled High School Senior, High School Graduate, or registered as a Full-Time Student at an accredited College or Vocational/Technical Institute.

When to Apply? The deadline for submitting your application for the 2024-2025 academic year is 1 May, 2024. Recipients will be notified no later than 5-June-2024.

MSgt Chapman

The scholarship is given in honor of Medal of Honor recipient MSgt John Chapman and his extraordinary heroism on 4 March 2002. The Medal of Honor is the United States Armed Forces’ highest military decoration awarded for exceptional valor and courage. MSgt John Chapman is not only a Medal of Honor recipient, but he was also a dedicated father, husband, brother, son, and teammate. The MSgt John Chapman scholarship is a prestigious merit-based award designed to recognize outstanding academic achievement, leadership potential, and contributions to the community.

Amount: $10,000

Who is Eligible? Open to families of current and veteran unit members. Applicant must be a current undergraduate or graduate college student.

When to Apply? The deadline for submitting your application for the 2024-2025 academic year is 1 May, 2024. Recipients will be notified no later than 5-June-2024..

Certificates & Licensing

Certification and license programs can often be offered year-round therefore do not always align with typical scholarship application cycle timelines. The Association offers this annual scholarship opportunity to support timely educational needs that may arise for eligible applicants pursuing a certificate and license. Eligible applicants can apply for either a traditional scholarship or certificate and license opportunity annually, not both.

Special Warfare Kids

SWKIDS provides targeted academic intervention for children in the Special Warfare community through tutoring, testing, and specialized therapies.

Amount: $Variable

Other Opportunities
Scowcroft Scholarship

The Scowcroft Scholarship is for $10,000 annually for 4 years. Candidates must have a minimum SAT Composite Score of 1240
or ACT Composite Score of 27, and have a minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA. Candidates are expected to have held positions of
responsibility and leadership in extracurricular activities, sports, service organizations, and/or employment. Two letters of recommendation and a 500-word essay on a pre-selected topic are required.

Amount: $10,000 each year for 4x years

Miller Fellowship

The Miller Fellowship is for up to $20,000, limited to two years, and awarded within three years of graduation from college or graduate school. The objective is to provide the Fellow an opportunity live in a foreign country and participate, study, or conduct research in service-related activities while simultaneously advancing foreign language skills. Consideration is based on a 3.2 GPA or higher, academic honors, written proposal, and demonstrated career interest in government, military, foreign Service, national security or public service. (Below 3.2 GPA must demonstrate a strong record of leadership and a compelling proposal.)

Amount: $up to $20,000

Miller Scholarship

The Miller Scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship for participation in an accredited course of study or an internship sponsor from either a college or university, a non-governmental charitable organization, a business, or an agency. Consideration is based on a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, academic honors, scholarship, proposal, and demonstrated career interest in government, military, Foreign Service, national security or public service. (GPA below 3.2 must demonstrate strong record of leadership and compelling proposal.) A 250-word proposal outlining the objectives for the scholarship and two letters of recommendation are required. Knowledge of a foreign language is recommended but not required.

Exeter Summer Scholarship

Phillips Exeter Academy Summer School, Exeter, New Hampshire: 5-week summer school (first week of July – first week of August). Tuition (approx. $10,000) is provided to support high school sophomores, and juniors to participate in this life‐changing, five‐week summer experience at Exeter. Exeter is based on the Harkness education system, a conference format of student interaction with minimal teacher involvement.

Amount: Approximate value – $10,000
